The Fraternal Order of Law Enforcement was founded by William (Bill) C. Keefer to keep Law Enforcement Officers as well as the public up dated on issues affecting public safety. This job has now been passed to Richard Johns by Mr. Keefer. Bill Keefer is still with the Association as a consultant.
People ask, “What is the Fraternal Order of Law Enforcement?” Well, we are a group of people who share information to keep law enforcement officers up to date with issues on public safety, training and new products to aid in officer safety. Every time we visit a city, we visit their police departments and law enforcement agencies, chat, share safety tips, new ideas and do ride-alongs with the officers to get their perspective on things. We, explain FOLE and if they are interested in becoming a member we put them on the list. We have a network of officers and when important information such as an immediate officer safety issue, training notes and even amber alerts are passed to us we intern send them to all the members. Getting information out there as fast as possible to help officers is key to our goal. It’s really surprising how many officers we talk to, that are not familiar with a new safety tool or a tidbit of new information. Our monthly newsletters have invaluable information that can aid in saving officers lives. Information is the key to safety and safety is key to staying alive on the streets !! Our
only main concern is to save officers lives. The Fraternal Order of Law Enforcement is not a money maker which is why we do not charge any membership fees or costs for the newsletters. Our idea is, If we can get information out there and it saves one officers life, it’s worth all the time that’s put into it. Everything we do is voluntary. We use our own money and time. When we explain this to officers interested in FOLE they have a lot more respect and realize FOLE is really about officer safety not money. I know, a very strange philosophy. This is the idea that Bill Keefer started with,
many years ago and is still true today. If you have any questions please contact us any time.
This association is open to anyone who is in law enforcement and the security fields. To become a member please feel free to contact us at any time. |
